The DCLI Summer Soccer and Basketball Camps give young children the chance to learn and play soccer and basketball while being guided by youth participants in DCLI programs. For the older participants, leading the camp provides hands-on experience in leadership, mentorship, and teamwork, helping them develop essential skills as they engage with and inspire the next generation. This program not only promotes physical activity and sportsmanship for kids but also empowers DCLI youth to build confidence, practice responsibility, and make a positive impact in their community.

UIS CAMPS

University of Illinois Springfield Continuing and Professional Education (CAPE) offers high school students opportunities to experience campus life and learn new skills through its 2025 Academic Summer Camps. DCLI leverages this program to provide hands-on learning, spark curiosity, and empower DCLI students to explore topics that interest them while giving them a glimpse of what it’s like to learn at a university level. Through the UIS Camps, students can develop new skills in an engaging and supportive environment. DCLI covers the cost of the camp tuition and provides transportation for the two-day camps.

Public Policy in Action

This two-day camp is for students passionate about creating change in their communities. Participants will learn how to amplify their voices, dive into public policy and gain practical skills in civic action. Designed for both beginners and those already interested in leadership, this camp focuses on turning ideas into actionable solutions.

In 2025, DCLI provided student scholarships to take part in the Public Policy In Action Camp, giving students the opportunity to explore real-world policy issues, develop actionable solutions, and learn how to effectively advocate for change. Participants gain hands-on experience in civic engagement, deepen their understanding of how policies impact communities, and build the skills needed to influence decisions that shape the public good.

Artificial Intelligence

Students explore scientific breakthroughs and gain hands-on experience with AI and machine learning. The camp envisions a future where all students, no matter their background, have the opportunity to harness AI as a tool for learning, creativity, and career success.

In 2025, DCLI provided student scholarships to take part in the UIS camp “AI and the Nobel Prize.” Through programming exercises and discussions of Nobel Prize-winning discoveries, participants will delve into the intersection of science, technology and innovation.

Young Men Only and Young Women Only are identity-based leadership and personal development programs designed to create safe, supportive spaces for students in grades 8–12. These programs give young men and young women the opportunity to talk openly, learn from trusted mentors, and grow alongside peers who share similar experiences. Through guided discussions, skill-building activities, and real-world conversations, participants build confidence, strengthen character, and develop healthy relationships. The programs focus on personal responsibility, self-awareness, and leadership while fostering meaningful connections that support academic success, emotional well-being, and positive engagement in their communities.

THE FARM AT 3080
The Farm At 3080

The Farm @ 3080 is more than a farm—it’s a community space where food, wellness, and culture come together. Our focus is on creating meaningful conversations around nutrition, wellness, and food insecurity while also honoring the history of agriculture and the cultural connections we share through farming.

The Farm @3080 is a working farm located on the campus of the Dawson Civic Leadership Institute. Throughout the year, The Farm @ 3080 will host events designed to engage people of all ages, including yoga and meditationworkshops and youth centered planting days, giving young students a hands-on experience with agriculture and connecting them to the origins of their food.
